9th Jan - Homnifi Platform Update: DAO-Approved Changes & Promotions
Upcoming Implementation of DAO-Approved Proposals - Effective 19th January
As part of our commitment to community-led governance, we are preparing to implement two DAO proposals that were approved by the LayerK DAO. These changes are now moving from governance to execution and will go live on 19th January.
1. Reduced Minting Power for New Purchases (DAO Proposal #9)
Following community approval, we are introducing a revised minting power structure.
Key Clarification:
This change applies only to new purchases made after the implementation date
Existing users and current device holders are not impacted
All machines already purchased will continue to operate with their original minting power, without any reduction
This update is designed to:
Preserve long-term protocol sustainability
Reward early adopters who entered the ecosystem earlier
Encourage timely participation before the new structure takes effect
Users planning to purchase new computer devices may want to act before the reduced minting power is activated.
2. Yearly Minting Power Decay (DAO Proposal #10)
We are also implementing a structured yearly minting power decay model, as approved by the DAO.
How the decay works:
No decay applies during the first year
After completion of the first full year, minting power will reduce by 15% per year
This reduction will apply for four consecutive years
At the end of the fourth reduction cycle, minting power stabilizes at 60%, with no further decay
Important Notes:
The decay is time-based, not activity-based
It begins only after one full year is completed
This is a forward-looking protocol rule and does not retroactively alter past rewards
This mechanism introduces a predictable, transparent emission curve while maintaining long-term reward balance.
smLYK & USDK-Promo Linking Promotion Extended
The smLYK and USDK-Promo burn campaign, which officially ended on 31st December 2025, has now been re-enabled due to strong community demand.
What this means for users:
smLYK and USDK-Promo tokens can continue to be used for machine linking
Users can still take advantage of the promotional linking benefits
This extension allows better utilization of promotional balances already held by users
This decision was taken to support users who requested additional time and flexibility to maximize their existing promotional tokens.
